Blts are Claire’s obsession and she always encourages me to do it in another recipe, so here we are with another pasta recipe. We like this served at room temperature or slightly hot, although the cold works, but TBH has been used an accidental hot paste and we have never returned, as it proved the best.

We also used to make a Mayo based dressing for this Easter salad, but I tried it with this healthier basil dressing and I only used it since then. So, this is the dressing we include in the recipe with a shortcut for the use of a ranch bought from the store, if you are shortly.

If you are not familiar with a BLT sandwich, BLT represents bacon, salad and tomatoes. For a sandwich, we lay those between two pieces of fried bread that were full of Mayo and then devour. We keep the same delicious flavors in this tasty pasta salad and add a fabulous basil, pasta, smoked cheese and creamy avocado.

How to make a light blt pasta salad

You will have a few different things to make all the components of this pasta salad, but it is still so simple. I like to make the panso in basil first and then get the cooking. While the pasta boils, chop vegetables, bacon and cheese. Here are the steps:

  1. Make the dressing: Combine all the ingredients for dressing in a blender and mix until smooth. Salt and pepper to taste.
    • Note: If you take the ranch shortcut bought from the store, put the ranch with all herbs and Worcestershire in a blender and mix to smooth.
  2. Cook the pasta: Bring a large bowl of water to a boil and jump strong water. Add the pasta to boiling water and cook next to Al Dente (see section below). Drain the pasta and put it aside. We do not want cool, although you do not put it in the fridge.
    • Note: Don’t rinse the pasta! We really want the starch to stay on the pasta. Helps the dressing to cling to noodles better.
  3. Throw the salad: Add the pasta and cheese cubes to a large serving bowl and throw with the dressing. Just before serving, add the salad, tomatoes, bacon and avocado.
  4. Serve: The Easter salad can be served hot, room temperature or cold.

Please see the following pictures to see the steps for this recipe. Continue the scroll by the end of the post for all instructions in detail.

Cover the pasta? Even!?

If you have ever made our macaron pasta salad, you will know that I say to overload your pasta a little. I got so much pressing back! It’s totally counterintuitive but trust me (and Kitchn and America’s testing kitchen)! If you exceed the pasta slightly besides al dente, when you add the dressing, the pasta will not soak the pans and will not suck the entire aroma on the plate.

What kind of pasta is the best for Easter salad?

For Easter salads, you want a pasta that has bite dimensions and a fun shape, with a lot of angles and skulls to start the dressing. You also want to use dry pasta and not fresh pasta. For this recipe, we like radiators or cavaTappi.

Like most Easter salad recipes, it is so versatile. I would recommend keeping the bacon, salad and tomatoes to stay loyal blt, but you can add other ingredients or change/omit things. Here are some ideas:

ADDITIONS: chopped red onion, grilled corn, croutons or hard boiled eggs

Replacements: Use sharp cheddar cheese instead of smoked or change for parmesan cheese.

Omit: Jump avocado if you want but we probably can’t be friends!
